Relevant Experience

Cisco Networking – In my current position, I am a Network Engineer for a large health care organization, specializing in 802.11 wireless networking. As a Network Engineer I am responsible for:

• Cisco Unified Wireless LAN consisting of 30 controllers and approximately 650 access points
• Local and Wide Area network technologies
• PIX and ASA security appliances
• VPN technologies, including remote access and LAN to LAN tunnels

In my career I have configured and supported several models of LAN switches in diverse environments, am experienced in configuring EIGRP and RIP routing, and I have some BGP experience. I also have experience with wireless networking, and Cisco security products such as Cisco MARS and Cisco Intrusion Prevention sensors. I also have some limited VOIP experience managing a Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Unity voice mail environment. I have also been responsible for mentoring and training Network Analysts who serve as first line support on networking issues.

Windows Server and Active Directory – In my career I have had experience installing, supporting, and maintaining Windows servers in NT 4 domains and Active Directory. During my time as a consultant, I worked with many different customers on new Active Directory installs, existing installs, and migrations from NT 4 and Novell environments. I have also performed Active Directory health checks and server assessments for various organizations utilizing documented Microsoft best practices.

Messaging Services – I have extensive experience installing, supporting, and maintaining Microsoft Exchange Server environments on version 5.5, 2000, 2003, and 2007. As a consultant I was responsible for performing numerous Exchange migrations for customers. These included migrations from Groupwise to Exchange, Exchange 2000 to 2003, and 2003 to 2007. I have installed and supported Exchange environments ranging in size from a single server with less than 10 mailboxes, to large clustered systems with multiple storage groups, and thousands of mailboxes. I have also performed a number of Exchange restores in disaster recovery scenarios.

Project Management – I have experience managing projects of various size and scope. These range from smaller projects with a few team members, to enterprise level projects with multiple teams. In my current role I am serving as the IT Partner on a large project to forklift the existing Cisco Autonomous WLAN infrastructure for our subsidiary organization Affinity Health Care. At my previous employer, I was the project manager on our IP Telephony upgrade and remediation project. Both projects have required me to manage both internal team members and contractors, with an emphasis on managing timelines, and communication to key stakeholders.
