University of California Berkeley Thermal Hydraulics Laboratory- Berkeley, Ca, May 2009-May 2010

• Assisted with the design, construction, repairs, and operation of multiple heat transfer experiments
-S-HT2: Scaled heat transfer experiment utilizes Dowtherm A heat transfer fluid and stainless steel cylinders to measure at temperatures up to 100o C in order to extrapolate correlations at high temperature for complex salt reactor coolants and ceramic fuel pellets.

-P-SHT2: Pebble-bed scaled heat transfer experiment utilizes Dowtherm A heat transfer fluid and stainless steel spheres at temperatures up to 200o C to extrapolate correlations at high temperature for complex salt reactor coolants and ceramic fuel particles.

-PREX: Pebble removal and landing experiment used as a proof of concept; showed that ceramic fuel pebbles could be injected into the inlet coolant stream of a complex salt cooled reactor and be circulated throughout the bed.

• Constructed new laboratory office computers for accelerated data processing

• Upgraded laboratory office systems, related technology, and software for increased performance and usability

• Facilitated the re-organization of laboratory office for improved efficiency and safety

• Designed and built new de-fueling chute for a fluid mechanics pebble landing experiment
