Work Experience:

July 2010 – Present Alta Telecom Sr. Network Engineer Norcross, GA
• Engineered, configured, and turned-up an additional MPLS / BGP network to provide highly available, segmented and redundant network communication in support of critical 24x7 network operations center (NOC).
• Upgraded the primary MPLS network from 1.5M to 100M through circuit design, outside plant fiber provisioning, hardware configuration and installation the installation of Cisco 7204 VXR’s.
• Document, manage, and report project status, time allocation, issues and risks to the Director of Operations.
• Implemented network monitoring and configuration management systems to track and control network events and configuration change management.
• Designated as point of contact for external and internal customers to ensure network engineering business requirements are met.
• Collaborated with Network Security Consultants to design the firewall architecture for the mission critical network operations center. Deployed and turned-up Cisco ASA firewalls in three Alta managed datacenters.


June 2010 – June 2010 Alta Telecom Network Infrastructure Design Consultant Norcross, GA
• Designed and deployed extensible IP address plans to support a multi-vendor DWDM network deployed in a service delivery model.
• Re-Engineered long haul optical telemetry network by repurposing existing equipment to create a carrier grade Ethernet distribution backbone. Created the engineering deployment plan that included a detailed installation procedure for inside plant technicians (ISP's) and trained the network operations center (NOC) engineers to lead the deployment. This project was completed with no capital expense and resulted in successful segregation of customer and management network traffic.
• Engineered, configured, and turned-up a MPLS / BGP network to provide business critical network operations communication.

February 2007 – May 2010 The Weather Channel IT Network Infrastructure Lead Atlanta, GA
• Managed network engineering group, responsible for project management, scheduling, performance reviews and mentoring.
• One of only ten yearly candidates accepted into a sought after two-year leadership training course that included detailed classes in change management, situational leadership, business finance & strategy, and employee development and coaching.
• Successfully led enterprise deployment of Cisco VoIP that included over 700 endpoints across 5 locations. Managed the selected consulting vendors during all stages of the project from RFP through completion.
• Designed new datacenter infrastructure and led a team of installers and network engineers during the live migration of 350+ servers, switches, and load balancers.
• Oversaw enterprise network integration with GE/NBC-Universal, the main points of this project included IP number redesign, security posture architecture review, and IT business synergy deployment. Worked directly with NBC-Universal’s CISO to design and implement enterprise security policies during NBC’s acquisition of The Weather Channel.
• Integral manager of datacenter infrastructure during the design, installation and migration to high definition (HD) video.
• Re-architected wide area video distribution circuits that led to the successful on-time launch of the “Wake Up with Al” television show.

December 2005 – February 2007 HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation Senior Network Engineer Atlanta, GA
• Maintained an enterprise network consisting of datacenter and 21 remote sites over a MPLS network including 120 switches and 25 routers in a Cisco environment.
• Collaborated in the final decision of a RFP project that resulted in the installation of a $1.2 million redundant and scalable MPLS WAN network.
• Successfully engineered and implemented a fully meshed MPLS BGP network. Led a team of 15 field engineers to migrate the existing WAN to the new environment during a two-week timeframe. The hot cutover of the network resulted in an average of just 10 minutes of downtime per location.
• Engineered the network architecture for HomeBanc’s joint ventures by deploying Juniper 5GT-wireless firewalls.
• Provided last tier support and engineering to the field engineering department, the enterprise help desk, and the engineering architecture group.
• Held a seat on the Architectural Review Committee representing the Infrastructure group.
• Administer the SSL VPN connectivity for 1500 users using F5 FirePass SSL VPN.
