ENGINEERING PROJECTS & RESEARCH

Preliminary Design Fall 2011-Present
As part of a nine-person team, currently developing a UAS for use in a flight test course. The UAS
will be used to collect flight test data including airspeed, altitude, GPS location, control input signals, control surface deflection, angle of attack, sideslip angle, roll rates, and propeller RPM utilizing the ArduPilot/ArduShield IMU and extra custom-designed hardware based on an STM32 microcontroller.

Contributions include: electrical systems design, electrical systems development, electrical systems integration, data acquisition algorithms, software scaffolding, data collection and analysis, initial sizing, power-plant selection, initial aircraft configuration.

Shallow Sonar Research Fall 2010-Present
As part of a small team, currently developing a SONAR array and accompanying software for shallow water use. The equipment will be used to search for buried ruins in the Venice Lagoon upon its completion.
Contributions include: power output and expected returning power calculations based on acoustic equations and electrical to pressure-wave power, debugging and coding of the imaging software, translation from MATLAB to C for faster computing.

iPhone Application Development Fall 2009-Spring 2010
As part of a 2-person team, attempted to develop an application for the iPhone. The application was to be a racing game with appealing graphics and accurate physics. The project was terminated after the completion of the physics engine but may be revived in the future.

Contributions included: physics f...
