Professional Experience
Georgia Pacific, Rome, GA 2014 – Present
Project Engineer
Developing and implementing capital and major expense projects for the lumber mill.
Financial analysis, modeling, and project forecasting.
Overseeing approval processes, which included preparing cost estimates, funding requests, and project expenses.
Currently managing thirty projects with a combined budget of $22M.

IVC Group, Dalton, GA 2013 – 2014
Engineering Manager
Cut energy costs by 5% through implementation of effective cooling tower water treatment and increasing heat exchanger maintenance frequencies.
Reduced hot oil system leaks by 60% through RCFA of flange gasket failures. Proactively specified improved gasket materials meeting appropriate temperature and pressure specifications.
Slashed annual chiller system maintenance costs by 25% using clean in place (CIP) technology in lieu of disassembly & manual cleaning
Improved spare parts inventory accuracy by 5% through implementation of barcoded parts labeling and bin identification (SAP)
Re-organized technical staffing to better utilize and reward high achievers and eliminate non-contributors. The new maintenance structure cut administrative burden and supervisory requirements by 25%.

Kordsa Inc., Chattanooga, TN 2011 – 2013
Mechanical Engineer
Increased reactor capacity by 20% through the design, procurement, and installation of a new reactor vessel for the nylon polymerization process. This work involved updating the original DuPont design drawings to ensure compliance with current ASME pressure vessel codes. I also led the vendor selection process for fabrication, installation, and commissioning. Slashed fabrication costs by 50% through qualification of new vendors.
Led a capital project to upgrade all polymer piping in the facility. This project involved design, specification, and procurement of high pressure jacketed spools (Dowtherm) for the nylon melt transfer. I was directly responsible for managing this turnkey project without unnecessary interruption of production operations ($550K).
Eliminated downtime and drastically reduced energy costs by insulating holding tanks and process day tanks.
Designed and fabricated custom sampling valves for the nylon process. These high temperature and pressure valves facilitated the extraction of melt samples from online vessels.
Designed and supervised installation of all process piping systems. This included steam, chemical, and HVAC piping. Ensure that all pressure and process piping meets the requirements of ASME B31.3.
Improved chiller reliability by 33% utilizing predictive techniques such as eddy current analysis and water treatment improvements.

Logan Energy Corporation, Roswell, GA 2004 – 2011
