PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Project Experience

• Water Reclamation Facility Improvements: Assisted with the construction management of a major reconstruction of the clarifiers, headwork’s building grit removal equipment, the 10 Million Gallon storage tank for reclaimed water and all of the instrumentation and controls for the entire facility. Also replaced the pumps and turbines that moves the water from the treatment facility to the storage and distribution networks.

• Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant Expansion: Assisted with the construction management of an additional 3.0 Million Gallon storage tank for drinking water, a two skid RO system, feed systems, an adsorption system, and an additional backwash decanting and solids handling systems. While working for the general contractor on this project Mr. Becker was in charge of reviewing submittals, coordinating daily construction schedules, and working seamlessly with all parties involved on the project.

• Basin Management Action Plan for the Booker Creek Basin: As a member of this senior capstone project I helped design a plan to address the eutrophication within Booker Creek. The design team was responsible for evaluating water quality data to determine the extent of the problem. The team located potential areas for implementation of structural and nonstructural BMPs to improve water quality within the creek. The most feasible BMPs was determined to be upstream of Booker Creek at Woodlawn Lake. The team decided on retrofitting the existing control structure to increase the permanent pool volume and to increase the treatment time of the water. The team also proposed regarding the banks of the lake to help with the permanent pool volume. Floating treatment wetlands were also recommended to combat and remove the excess nutrients within the lake.

Water/WW Feasibility Study: Orange County asked us to do a feasibility study on taking Camp Joy off a septic system and connecting it to the city’s water and wastewater utilities. It included doing a cost estimate, calculating a bid price, and listing different options the county could choose from for moving forward with the design. His duties included drafting the study and all of the maps and exhibits that were included in the report.

• Sidewalk Improvements: Designing a new 2.75-mile-long sidewalk along NW 36th St located in Okeechobee, FL. This project included drainage, crosswalk, and pavement design. His duties on the project were to design and produce the construction plans in AutoCAD.

• Roadway Improvements: This project encompasses a 2” asphalt overlay of the existing roadway design, including the design of two culverts as well. The roadway was roughly a half mile long and was located in hilly topography. His duties were to design and produce the construction plans using AutoCAD.

• City Road Widening Project: This 1-mile project encompasses widening a rural 2-lane facility to an urban 4-lane section, and includes major drainage improvements the length of the project. His duties on the project also included construction management and CEI services.
