EXPERIENCE

Berg LLC, Framingham, Massachusetts Apr. 2012 – Present
Senior Research Associate I - Proteomics / Biomarker Group

-Run and maintain LCMS instruments for proteomic platform. Includes running sample analysis, regular tuning, calibrating, and troubleshooting. Actively used: Waters nanoAquity HPLC, Eksigent nanoLC Ultra 2D, Thermo Easy nLC 1000, Thermo LTQ Orbitrap Velos MS, Thermo QExactive Plus MS.
-Protein QC analysis on novel biomarkers for protein identification and sequencing. Includes performing Western Blot analysis, SDS-PAGE, in-gel and in-solution tryptic digestion and analysis on LCMS.
-Preform sample preparation for mass spectrometry high-throughput proteomics workflow for full proteome analysis. Used label free and isobaric mass tag (TMT/ iTRAQ) labeling methods. Worked on various samples types including cell pellet, tissue, plasma, serum, buffy coat, urine, saliva, tears, sweat, CSF, conditioned media.
-Initiated method development and established protocols for clinical trial tissue samples analysis as well as conditioned media samples. Worked closely with Senior Scientist on development of intact protein analysis and peptidomics platforms.
-Test and develop in-house ELISAs and run Western Blots with the Antibody team for novel Prostate Cancer biomarkers. Validate novel biomarkers in human serum and plasma samples with ELISA to confirm discovery networks.
-Executed proteomics data analysis and database searches with Proteome Discover. Performed labeling annotation, sample QC on data sets, and data submission.
-Trained and mentored research associates and interns.

Procter and Gamble - Gillette, Boston, Massachusetts Jun. 2011 – Apr. 2012
Analytical Lab Technician - Analytical Group

-Execute clinical shave studies on panelists to measure attributes of Gillette razors and products
-Capture images of facial hair and perform analysis for hair length and spatial mass to determine product performance
-Collect ATP samples of panelists to test for biomarkers on skin surface to test for skin irritation
-Test material properties such as coefficient of friction and tackiness of razors with varying conditions and materials
-Image surface properties of razor components using various microscopy techniques

Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, Cambridge, Massachusetts Sept. 2010 - Jun. 2011
Research Intern - Formulation and Delivery Group

-Prepare, characterize, and optimize nanoemulsions for effective nucleic acid delivery in the development of a novel vaccine platform
-Perform particle sizing, gel electrophoresis, and in-vitro assays to determine nanoemulsion properties and sample stability
-Optimize formulation buffers and manipulate osmolarity of samples using sugars and salts to increase emulsion stability and eliminate pain on injection
-Perform ELISAs on blood serum to test for in-vivo antibody titers and viability of vaccine candidates
-Determine lipid content within emulsions using HPLC
-Document findings in lab notebooks, analyze data, and present results
