ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
6/10 – present Wunderlich-Malec Engineering (WME), Henderson, NV
Project Engineer – Position responsible for supporting systems integration program efforts for engineering design and construction of complex facilities. Duties included performance of: commissioning and startup activities; field-verification, mark up, and correction of facility P&IDs; inspection, assessment and collection of instrumentation data to write specifications. Produced the following plans, diagrams and schematics: PLC control panel schematics; P&ID drawings; fiber optic network / Ethernet architecture plans and details; standard instrument installation details. Also tasked to: review instrumentation and controls design project documents; develop PLC programs; develop HMI/OIT software applications; provide construction inspection services; participate in design and construction project progress meetings; develop and optimize process plant commissioning plans, produce required reports documenting project status.

Duties also included: development, modification and use of a variety of complex database and spreadsheet data to develop SCADA, human machine interface (HMI) and programmable logic controller (PLC) applications; assist in development of facility instrumentation and controls standards; assist with documentation of calibration procedures for all instrument types; create fiber optic testing procedures; implement commissioning and startup plans, create complex schedules for same. Specific complex projects where the preceding duties were performed: Instrumentation Design Guide, PLC Hardware Design Standards, SCADA Master Plan Re-write, Odor Control Improvements, Nitrification/De-nitrification Optimization, Chemical Accident Prevention, Las Vegas Valley Water District Pump Stations, Compressor Building Replacement, and Nitrification Treatment Plant Improvements.

8/07– 6/10 City of Las Vegas Department of Public Works Environmental Division (CLVED), Las Vegas, NV Sr. Engineering Associate – Assisted with engineering design and construction of a variety of projects in support of the CLVED 25M per year capital improvements plan for a complex and large facility. Project duties included: assisting with creating specifications and construction plans for retrofits and new improvements; researching, collecting and recording data for engineering design calculations; monitoring and coordinating complex facility construction projects; assisting with estimating and bidding (pre-construction services) to support facility improvements and retrofits in a multi-discipline engineering environment.

My responsibilities required acting with independent judgment upon award of projects to monitor progress and coordinate construction contract work. To contribute towards delivery of successful projects I: recorded daily activities; communicated status updates; performed inspections and wrote inspection reports; recorded and updated a variety of engineering records; approved pay applications and change orders; performed EHS functions to investigate and resolve complex problems; coordinated and managed consultants, contractors and plant personnel; coordinated activities with lab personnel, operations and maintenance personnel, systems integration contractors, outside consultants, contractors and management. From physical notice to proceed to substantial completion of projects and on through to warranty issue resolution, it was my responsibility to apply my experience and knowledge of complex engineering design and construction projects to bring them successfully to the close out phase and then gain acceptance of the completed project from the owner.

The types of projects requiring my participation have included: training / classroom facilities; administrative offices; warehouses; industrial buildings and processes contained therein; fiber optic networks; Ethernet systems; industrial automation systems; access roads and parking facilities; site security improvements and startup and commissioning.

Examples of other types of duties performed were: using CMMS to perform maintenance planning; scoping and budgeting of major repairs followed up by coordination and payment of contractors hired for the work; project forensic investigation followed up by documentation of conditions and coordination of resolution.
